Gary Owens Passes Away At 80

Though best known as the announcer for Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In, Gary Owens enjoyed a long and varied career up until his death on Thursday February 12, 2015..... as reported in PEOPLE.

Owens began his career as a voice-over artist in 1949, but his big break
came in 1966 as the voice of cartoon superhero Space Ghost. He went on
to provide voices for The Green Hornet, Batman and more before landing his most famous role, as the announcer for Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In, where he began his trademark hand-over-the-ear announcing style.

Owens received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1980, and
was the first radio star to be inducted into the Hollywood Hall of
Fame. In 1979.... Billboard magazine named him the Top Radio Personality in the World; no surprise, then, that he earned five Billboard awards during his lengthy career.

Owens was also well known for his voice work on Sesame Street, The Ren & Stimpy Show, Garfield and Friends and Eek! the Cat. Most recently, he was credited for a 2011 role in Batman: The Brave and the Bold as Space Ghost, naturally, and in..... The Adventures of Kaitlyn Kitty Kat Kay, which is still filming.
